Dragon Fly

Words by Tamaras Photograph by H.R. LoBue

Tonight at the dragonfly
The rock stars have their heads way up so high
Like spaghetti on the wall messing with my peripheral,
I am misplaced in this joint and it’s almost comical

These clowns run like chickens in a fury
While a fresh stain in my memory book has me buried
Because it’s been three months and I am over not being over you
You have moved on and left me to count the cycles of the moon

Oh what can you do?
In a hologram of dreams that won’t come true
Just deny, put on your face and push through

So I slide into the mix with these circus of freaks
And I open up a song that tells how it affects me
I animate the strings to a gentle perfect sound
Bring ‘em to a moving rage so we can intimately drown

I push out the words of my song from my chest
Because it’s my life on the floor in the air in this mess
Just leave me here awhile and let it all dangle
A place powerful. Present. The world untangles

Oh what can you do?
In a hologram of dreams that won’t come true
Just deny, put on my face and push through

So hold on tight
For your life
‘Cause the egos are in flight
and flaunt their might

You can not tell me that everything’s alright?
With all the posers here at the dragonfly
